Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Welcome to Calipxo (“we,” “our,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our gift recommendation and delivery service. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information with care and respect.
2. Information We Collect
Personal Information
We collect personal information that you provide directly to us, including but not limited to:
- Name, email address, and contact information
- Payment information and billing details
- Delivery addresses and recipient information
- Gift preferences, occasion details, and relationship information
- Communication preferences and account settings
Usage Information
We automatically collect certain information about your use of our service, including device information, IP address, browser type, and usage patterns to improve our service quality.
Information about gift recipients
When you tell us about someone you give gifts to, we keep two kinds of notes. Your personal observations and the details of your relationship stay private to your account. Objective, non-sensitive facts about the recipient — such as their interests, sizes, and the kinds of gifts they tend to like — may be shared with other Calipxo users who are also connected to that same person, so everyone can choose them better gifts. We never share your private notes, and we apply automated safeguards to keep sensitive details out of anything that is shared.
Section 5 sets out exactly what is shared this way, what never is, and who can see it. Your delivery address is not part of these notes and is not "non-sensitive" — Section 5 also explains separately how a delivery address you have already given someone is kept current for them.
3. Google Account Integration (Calendar & Contacts)
If you choose to connect your Google Account, Calipxo asks your permission — via Google’s consent screen — to access certain Google data to power optional features. We access it only with your explicit consent, and you can disconnect at any time.
What we access
- Google Calendar (read-only): your calendar list and events, to identify birthdays and other giftable occasions you already track and turn them into occasions in Calipxo.
- A dedicated “Calipxo” calendar (only the calendar we create): if you turn on “show my occasions on Google Calendar,” we create a separate Calipxo calendar and add your occasions to it. We can access only this calendar we created — never your primary or other calendars.
- Google Contacts and other contacts (read-only): names, email addresses, phone numbers, and birthdays, so you can choose which people to add to your gifting network.
How we use it
Solely to provide the features above — discovering occasions, building your gifting network, and optionally showing your Calipxo occasions on your Google Calendar. You choose what to import.
Processing and storage
Your Google authorization tokens are encrypted at rest. To detect occasions in free-form calendar entries, event titles and descriptions may be processed by our AI service provider (OpenAI) acting on our behalf, solely to deliver this feature; this data is not used to train any AI/ML models (see “AI Service Providers” below). Imported occasions and contacts are stored in your Calipxo account.
Sharing
We do not sell your Google data and never use it for advertising. We share it only with service providers who help us deliver these features, and where required by law.
Your control
You can disconnect Google at any time in Calipxo settings, which stops future syncing and revokes our access at Google. Data already imported stays in your account until you delete it or your account.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information solely for the following purposes:
- Gift Recommendations: To provide personalized gift suggestions based on your preferences and recipient information
- Google Account Sync (optional): To discover occasions and contacts you choose to import
- Order Fulfillment: To process purchases, arrange delivery, and ensure gifts reach their intended recipients
- Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries, resolve issues, and provide assistance with our services
- Service Improvement: To enhance our recommendation algorithms and overall service quality
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes
- Promotions: To issue and deliver a promotional code to an email address you give us, to remind you about it before it expires, to apply it to an order, and to check that the same person does not claim the same offer more than once
5. Information Sharing and Disclosure
Sharing between Calipxo users
More than one person often gives gifts to the same recipient. When another Calipxo user is also connected to someone you give gifts to, a single shared set of notes about that recipient is visible to both of you, so you can each choose them something better. These notes are built automatically as you tell Calipxo about the people you give gifts to — we do not ask you each time.
What is shared. Objective, non-sensitive facts about the recipient:
- Their interests, and how keen or experienced they are in them
- Tastes, preferences, and sizes
- Things they love, and things they dislike or already own
- Whether past gifts landed well
What stays private to you. Your own observations, and the details of your relationship with the recipient, are stored separately and are visible only to your account. They are never part of the shared notes.
What our safeguards are designed to keep out. Because the shared notes are written automatically, we apply automated safeguards intended to exclude:
- Health, finances, substance use, family or relationship conflict, romantic or sexual matters, religious or political beliefs, legal, immigration or criminal matters, and anything you tell us in confidence
- The wording of your conversations with Calipxo — shared notes are written as a summary about the recipient rather than quoted from you, and are not attributed to whoever contributed them
A small number of gift-relevant exceptions are deliberate: an allergy may be shared so that nobody sends food that would make the recipient ill, and a publicly observed religious holiday may be shared where it affects gift timing. These are safeguards rather than guarantees — if something has ended up in the shared notes that should not have, tell us and we will remove it.
Who can see it. Only Calipxo users who already have that person saved as one of their own contacts, and the person themselves if they use Calipxo. Shared notes are not public and are not sold or used for advertising. Our own staff can access them where necessary to operate, support, and secure the service.
Correcting or removing shared notes. There is currently no way to edit them yourself. Contact us and we will correct or remove them — see Section 9.
Separately, some features share information because you ask them to: inviting someone to connect with you on Calipxo, and asking a recipient for their delivery details, both pass the information they provide to the person who asked.
Keeping a shared delivery address current. Once you have given someone your delivery address this way — for example by connecting with a referrer, or providing delivery details for a gift — updating your address in Calipxo also updates the address they have on file for you. This is a standing arrangement, not a one-time snapshot: changes you make continue to reach them going forward, not only at the moment you first shared it, and there is currently no separate control to stop future updates while staying connected. It never gives anyone a delivery address they did not already have from you — updates only reach people you have already shared your address with, never anyone new. You can ask us to stop sharing your address with a connection altogether — see Section 9.
Sharing with third parties
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties except in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: We may share information with trusted third-party vendors who assist us in operating our service, conducting business, or serving you (e.g., payment processors, delivery services)
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or governmental request
- Business Protection: We may share information to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or others
- Consent: We may share information with your explicit consent for specific purposes
6. AI Service Providers
Calipxo uses OpenAI to power certain features, including gift recommendations and — when you choose to connect Google Calendar — identifying which of your calendar events are gift-giving occasions (such as birthdays or anniversaries). To do this, we send the relevant information (for example, an event’s title and description, or a contact’s name and occasion) to the OpenAI API on a standard pay-as-you-go plan.
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. When we no longer need your information, we will securely delete or anonymize it.
One exception is worth naming. Where we have issued a promotional code, we keep a limited record of whether it was redeemed — including a record derived from the verified mobile number it was redeemed against — after an account is closed. We keep it only so that the same person cannot claim the same offer again by closing an account and opening another one, and it is described inSection 6.6 of our Terms of Service.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:
- The right to access, update, or delete your personal information
- The right to restrict or object to certain processing of your data
- The right to data portability
- The right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
To exercise these rights, please contact us using the information provided below.
10. Children’s Privacy
Our service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on our website and updating the “Effective Date” above.
12. Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the “CCPA”), provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information.
Categories of personal information we collect
In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information described in this Policy: identifiers (such as name, email address, and online identifiers including IP address and device identifiers); commercial information (such as orders and gift preferences); internet or other electronic network activity information (such as browsing and usage data); approximate geolocation derived from IP address; and inferences drawn from the above. We collect this information for the business purposes described in Section 4.
We do not sell or share your personal information

Subject to certain exceptions, you have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we have collected about you;
- Delete personal information we have collected from you;

- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (note: we do not sell or share); and
- Not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights.
